Self-tapping threaded pins
The Screwpin threaded pins are an evolution of the standard pins for external fixation
The Screwpin threaded pins are an evolution of the standard pins for external fixation. They are self-tapping pins and require predrilling, but since their diameter and required predrilling is the same as for orthopedic screws, the procedure for their insertion is identical to that for screw insertion. More pins’ sizes for smaller pins allow for a more precise fitting of the pin to the specific bone. The conical shape and the progressive reduction of the thread height dramatically reduce the likelihood of breakage, and in case the pin will get loose it’s possible to tighten it again by further insertion.
